




Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard Pre-Workout is a pre-workout powder to mix with water. Each 11 g serving (1 level scoop) provides 175 mg of caffeine from natural sources, 3 g of creatine (3.4 g of creatine monohydrate) and 1.5 g of beta-alanine, plus L-citrulline (750 mg), acetyl-L-carnitine (375 mg), N-acetyl-L-tyrosine (250 mg), PerforMelon® (watermelon extract, 250 mg) and piperine (5 mg).
Caffeine contributes to an increase in alertness and to improved concentration. Creatine increases physical performance in successive bursts of short-term, high intensity exercise. The beneficial effect is obtained with a daily intake of 3 g of creatine.
The formula also contains B vitamins and vitamin D. Thiamin, niacin, vitamin B6, vitamin B12 and pantothenic acid contribute to normal energy-yielding metabolism; niacin, vitamin B6, vitamin B12, pantothenic acid and folic acid contribute to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue; vitamin D contributes to the maintenance of normal muscle function.

It is a known effect of beta-alanine (1.5 g per serving): a temporary, harmless tingling sensation on the skin, called paraesthesia, which fades after a short time.
