Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between magnesium glycinate and other forms of magnesium?

Magnesium glycinate (or bisglycinate) is magnesium bound to the amino acid glycine, which makes it especially gentle on the stomach. Unlike magnesium oxide — the most common and cheapest form — or citrate, which can have a laxative effect at higher doses, glycinate is generally well tolerated.

BioPerine® is a patented black pepper (Piper nigrum) extract, standardised to at least 96% piperine. Each serving contains 2.5 mg of BioPerine®, which sets this formula apart from standard magnesium glycinates.

NOW Foods recommends 2 capsules, 1 to 2 times a day, with food. Many people prefer to take one of the servings in the evening. You can spread the servings across the day to suit your routine and tolerance.

Yes. The piperine in BioPerine® can inhibit the liver enzyme CYP3A4, which metabolises many medicines — including some anticoagulants, immunosuppressants and anti-epileptics. If you're taking medication, consult your doctor or pharmacist before starting this supplement.
